APPLICATION OF PSPP IN THE CHANGE OF PERCEPTIONS ABOUT THE LEARNING OF STATISTICAL ANALYSIS

Resumen: El propósito de esta práctica es sistematizar y describir el proceso de aprendizaje de la estadística descriptiva utilizando el paquete informático PSPP, una alternativa de código abierto y gratuita al SPSS. Esta experiencia se lleva a cabo con los participantes de la maestría en Ciencias de la Educación, Mención Gestión de Centros Educativos de la UAPA, recinto Cibao Oriental en Nagua. Se revisan los contenidos fundamentales de la asignatura, poniendo énfasis en conceptos como las variables y su clasificación, la distribución de frecuencia y gráficos, y el análisis de datos. Posteriormente, se realiza un taller para familiarizar a los participantes con el uso y manejo del PSPP. Como resultado, se observa que los participantes han adquirido un manejo básico del software y lo han aplicado en el análisis estadístico para responder a situaciones problemáticas, promoviendo así habilidades para la resolución de problemas en un contexto educativo. Al interactuar con el PSPP, los participantes han desarrollado nuevas perspectivas sobre el aprendizaje de la estadística.

AbstracT: The purpose of this practice is to systematize and describe the learning process of descriptive statistics using the PSPP software package, a free and open-source alternative to SPSS. This experience is carried out with the participants of the Master’s degree in Education Sciences, Mention Management of Educational Centers of the UAPA, Cibao Oriental campus in Nagua. The fundamental contents of the subject are reviewed, emphasizing concepts such as variables and their classification, frequency distribution and graphics, and data analysis. Subsequently, a workshop is held to familiarize participants with the use and handling of PSPP. As a result, it is observed that the participants have acquired a basic handling of the software and have applied it in statistical analysis to respond to problematic situations, thus promoting problem-solving skills in an educational context. By interacting with PSPP, participants have developed new perspectives on learning statistics.
